Nightmare is a French band that originated in the ‘80s, only to resurrect in the 21st century. The band plays Power Metal with “darker” overtones compared to what is typically heard from South American or even German Power Metal bands. Nightmare’s new album is entitled The Aftermath, and features former drummer Jo Amore at the microphone. His vocals border on the clean vs. shouts approach, and oftentimes Amore comes across sounding similar to Mark Tornillo (Accept). The 11 tracks are all worthwhile, with the only drawback being Amore’s vocal style, which tends to wear on you as the album progresses.

Based out of Indianapolis, USA he was first turned on to Hard Rock music in the mid-1970s when he purchased Deep Purple's Machine Head as his first album. He was immediately enthralled with the powerful guitar sound and pronounced drumbeat, and had to get more! His collection quickly expanded to include as many of Heavy Rock bands of the time that he could get his hands on, such as Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath, to name just a few.
