The Winery Dogs are a new supergroup comprised of drummer Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater, and others), bassist Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big), and guitarist/lead vocalist Richie Kotzen (Mr. Big, Poison).  With this amount of talent penning new material, you’d cautiously expect the creation of great music, and for once the billing lives up to its hype.  The Winery Dogs is chock full of quality Blues-influenced Hard Rock that incorporates a ‘70s feel to the music combined with latter day influences.  Fans of bands ranging from Vanilla Fudge to Thunder should enjoy this album, as should fans who just love quality music.

Based out of Indianapolis, USA he was first turned on to Hard Rock music in the mid-1970s when he purchased Deep Purple's Machine Head as his first album. He was immediately enthralled with the powerful guitar sound and pronounced drumbeat, and had to get more! His collection quickly expanded to include as many of Heavy Rock bands of the time that he could get his hands on, such as Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath, to name just a few.
