Mastercastle is an Italian-based, female-fronted Melodic Metal band that meshes in Neo-Classical and Progressive elements, and the addition of famed drummer John Macaluso was the breaking news from 2012. On Fire is their 4th release, and from start to finish each song comes across refreshingly unique and catchy within Mastercastle’s chosen soundscape. Emphatic kudos goes out to Pier Gonella for his seemingly unending supply of tasteful riffs and solos — all fitting within the structure of each song hand-in-glove. Vocalist Giorgia Gueglio performs commendably to avoid ruining any of the tracks, making On Fire a true gem of an album.

Based out of Indianapolis, USA he was first turned on to Hard Rock music in the mid-1970s when he purchased Deep Purple's Machine Head as his first album. He was immediately enthralled with the powerful guitar sound and pronounced drumbeat, and had to get more! His collection quickly expanded to include as many of Heavy Rock bands of the time that he could get his hands on, such as Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath, to name just a few.
