BAND BIO:
In 1989, vocalist Jonathon Stewart, former vocalist for the legendary Chicago Cult Metal band Slauter Xstroyes, began working on a new project, which came to be known as Energy Vampires. They were so raw and so bloody that they had to be seen and heard to be believed!
Jonathon hails from a tiny town in Romania, where he was exposed to an overdose of radiation over 2,000 years ago and became an ENERGY VAMPIRE. He came to the United States over 1,000 years ago, where he migrated West and somehow ended up in Chicago — “The perfect place to find the perfect band”, he claimed. Jonathon found Christian Nelken, a hot and very energetic guitar player. A local drummer & bass player duo were recruited, then finally Jim ‘Sven’ Swanson on guitar was added and Jonathon then proceeded to contaminate them with his style of music and they too became ENERGY VAMPIRES.

MER: What are 3 bands that you feel were most influential to your band?
EV:
UFO , Slauter Xstroyes, Metal Church. These are ultimate bands with great chemistry.
MER: What are the 5 best Metal/Hard Rock albums of all times, and why?
EV:
AC/DC – Back In Black
Iron Maiden – Killers
Judas Priest – Screaming For Vengeance
Black Sabbath – Heaven & Hell
Guns N Roses – Appetite for Destruction
These 5 albums represent what we feel are the all time greatest albums because of the genuine feelings and raw emotion in them.
MER: What is the best concert you’ve ever attended?
EV:
1983 Iron Maiden with Quiet Riot opening. 2 Great bands together!
MER: What was the most memorable gig you band ever played, and why?
EV:
Whiskey a Go Go 1991. Paul Stanley from Kiss was in the audience!
MER: What is the craziest thing any member of your band has ever done for the sake of Metal/Hard Rock?
EV:
Our singer used a real jack hammer on stage with a steel plate to protect the stage from being destroyed.
MER: If your band was appointed Rulers of the Metal World, what is the first law you’d make?
EV:
We’d banish all poseur Metal bands to life with Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus!
MER: If you could tour with any band, who would that be, and why?
EV:
Morgana Lefay, Volbeat, Rockbitch. Each are just great bands with an awesome sound.
MER: What do you think your fans and the music industry will say about your band in 10 years?
EV:
They will say they knew we would still be around in some form.
MER: If you could have any wish fulfilled for the band, what would it be?
EV:
To be known worldwide, which is why we signed on with Metal Express Radio as Independent Band of the Week!!!
