One of the greatest bands of our time, Canadian band Harem Scarem has done it again! With thirteen-plus studio albums to their credit they released Hope in 2008. Forming in the late 1980’s, the remnants of two different bands, they found themselves locked in brotherhood and began writing songs under the name Harem Scarem. Some people think it’s a big mystery where they got their name from, but really it isn’t. The members of the band being huge Bugs Bunny fans got their name after the very first Bugs Bunny cartoon with the same name. They needed a name right? Well what better way to come up with a name! If you want to know more about this great band you can go to their web site, it makes for wonderful reading; now on to Hope.

Here are some of the favorable tracks off this album; “Watch Your Back”, “Time Bomb”, “Hope”, and “Dark Times” to name a few. This is an awesome album in that there is a little something for everyone. Hess puts forth awesome vocals combined with beautiful melodies; something you’d come to expect in a band such as Harem Scarem. It’s really obvious that even with all the personnel changes, ups and downs, they have put together an album that you will definitely want in your CD collection. Make sure that you don’t pass up the opportunity to get this album because according to lead vocalist, Harry Hess, this is going to be their last album; “we will make one more studio record and then after 20 years we have decided to move on to other things”, Hess revealed. If you can put your hands on the European version of Hope try it and get it because they added a bonus acoustic track “Higher” which if you remember was an album of theirs in 2003.

About Neon Blonde 15 Articles
Neon Blonde was a reviewer here at Metal Express Radio. As a junior in High School in 1985 she got exposed to bands like Mötley Crüe, RATT, Kiss, Bon Jovi, Metallica, Def Leppard, ZZ Top, AC/DC, etc. This carried on through until she was a senior and after she graduated she kind of got away from Metal, until 2000 that is. She went to a local club to see a local Metal band and that was it; she was bitten by the Metal bug again! She started her own website, taking pictures, doing interviews, and reviews. She has also been a writer for internet publications such as SoundMag, Renegade Radio, and DallasMusic.com, as well as a ghostwriter for Power Play Magazine.
