Fragile Lives is a demo from Premacy, a four-man act from Oslo, Norway. This release (the band’s first) is made up of four tracks: “Fragile Life,” “Anger Management,” “Reality, My Dream,” and “Ending Days.” These songs can be downloaded from the band’s website. Another song, “The Search,” is available at Premacy’s MySpace site.

The line-up that played on Fragile Lives is made up of Thomas Dahl, vocals; Stian Dahl, guitars; Torkil Riiser, drums; and Mats Magnem, bass. In late June 2006, Thomas Dahl left the band; a search for a replacement singer is currently underway as of this writing.

Premacy plays a melodic style of Hard Rock with some Modern Rock influences. Fragile Lives isn’t really heavy, but it’s fairly punchy and has some good riffs and guitar work. Musically, Premacy sounds like lots of other bands that play this kind of radio-friendly emotional Rock.

Thomas Dahl has a good voice for this kind of music: melodic and emotive, but not overly-dramatic or angst-laden. Hopefully his replacement will be of a similar vein.

Musically, Premacy shows pretty good musicianship on this release; no one member of the band is a masterful virtuoso, but they all play with respectable skill. The group’s songwriting skills are fairly solid too, and the four tunes here show good rhythm and melody. With a bit more experience and more polished production (Fragile Lives is an independent release), the group’s talents will shine through more.

Currently Premacy is recording their full-length debut album. With Fragile Lives, they show they have what it takes to gain and maintain a career in the music business.

Gary was a reviewer here at Metal Express Radio, based out of the small Ontario, Canada town of Sault Ste. Marie, right on the border of Michigan, USA. When it comes to Metal and Hard Rock, Gary likes quite a few different bands, from stalwarts like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, to newer, hard-hitting groups such as Primal Fear, Hammerfall, and Paragon. Other favorites include the likes of Nightwish, Running Wild, Therion, Accept, Stratovarius, Dream Evil, Helloween, Rammstein, Dirty Looks, Crimson Glory, Tristania, and Gamma Ray. He thinks AC/DC deserves a paragraph all their own though.
