Earache Records certainly has quite the wide range of artist on their label, and this must really have been a great year for them with all these new and exciting releases. Ewigkeit is just one more to add to this list. Your first thought may be, “Oh, no, not another one of those German Black Metal bands,” after hearing the name Ewigkeit, but not to worry … just read on.

Ewigkeit is a UK band (or project) that was considered a Black Metal band from the beginning. Conspiritus is their second album, and it’s definitely not Black Metal. It’s a very experimental and ambient album with blends of everything from Pink Floyd to King Crimson.

Conspiritus really is an exciting piece of work; every song is so different it’s almost like listening to a radio station. The more you listen to it, the more new things there are to find and like. There’s a lot of keyboards and a lot of loud bass, combined with crazy cuts from both cinema and phone operators. The album is mixed by John Fryer (NIN, HIM, Paradise Lost) who has put a dark and exciting touch to this music.

Hard to favor any of these ten songs over the other, because the album in whole is a hit, but the first song, “It’s Not Reality” sure makes it hard to sit still. Main man James Fogarty can be really proud of this Fusion masterpiece.
