Transylvania 90210 is ex-Murderdoll frontman Wednesday 13’s second solo album. And listen up, people, Transylvania 90210 is the deadliest and most entertaining rock and roll funride offered in a long time.

Marilyn Manson might have made a run for the title of being Alice Cooper’s successor, but with all respect, Wednesday 13 is the candidate that you should vote for to assume his eventual throne. Wednesday 13 adds a whole lot of humor to his bizarre lyrical concept of death and destruction — but the music should been taken plain seriously.

These guys sure know a good riff from a bad one, and Wednesday 13 himself approaches the vocal task with a clear message: I’m a big fan of Alice Cooper, and I won’t even try to hide it. In fact, there is no reason why he should hide the fact; this is not about ripping of, it’s about paying tribute. On top of that, Wednesday 13 has penned some Hard Rock and Roll compositions that should be a part of music history themselves.

Highlights like “Look What The Bats Dragged In,” “I Walked With A Zombie,” “House By The Cemetery,” “Haunt Me,” and “Buried By Christmas” are all huge pieces. The lyrics are pitch black, but there’s a big grin in there, and the way the band members attack their instruments, there’s sure some fun to be dug out of this graveyard of songs.

A few of the tracks do struggle to stick out, though. The title track never lifts from the ground, but stays lurking like an impatient monster under your bed. Maybe that’s the point with the song? However, “God Is A Lie,” “Elect Death For President,” and “Rot For Me” add very little to the album.

Still, Transylvania 90210 is a thrilling album in many ways. Grab it while it’s alive!
