PAPA ROACH (Live)

at Rockefeller Music Hall, Oslo, Norway, October 8, 2004

After the brilliant album Getting Away With Murder, many had great expectations to see if Papa Roach could pull it off live. After an explosive 70 minutes, it was not hard to draw the proper conclusion: Papa Roach live was awesome.

As predicted, the set contained songs from all of their albums, Infest, Lovehatetragedy, and this year’s Getting Away With Murder. They started off with Infest’s “Dead Cell,” and the roof lifted itself off on great songs like “She Loves Me Not” and “M 80,” which followed the great opener.

Singer Jacoby Shaddix was everywhere. He stage dived at least two times, and on “Getting Away With Murder,” he sang most of the song out with and in between members of the audience, to the latter’s great joy.

Their latest album is a masterpiece when it comes to producing, but Papa Roach lacked nothing in taking it to the stage. “Scars,” “Not Listening,” and the highlight “Blood” were all brilliant, and the same can be said about two other highlights: “Take Me” and “Getting Away With Murder.”

Papa Roach’s concert was a short affair, but the event was a highly intense and energetic experience. It seemed like it lasted for longer because of that, and when the lights came on, we were really ready for so much more. But these 70 minutes were an explosive journey which all of us should be glad we didn’t miss.
