British AOR / Melodic Rock band Nitrate was formed in Nottingham, England in 2015 by bassist Nick Hogg. Their sound is based around the ’80s Hard Rock scene. Think bands like Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Europe, and Journey. Nitrate had a few lineup changes throughout their history together, including two different lead singers for their first two studio albums, Real World (2018) and Open Wide (2019). It wasn’t until vocalist Alexander Strandell joined the band for their third studio album, Renegade (2021), where they incorporated more AOR elements into their music. Nitrate will release their fourth studio album, Feel the Heat, on October 13, 2023 through Frontiers Music Srl.

Lana Teramae of Metal Express Radio had a chat with Hogg about the band’s latest studio album, Feel the Heat. They also talked about how Tom and James Martin’s production style shaped the band’s sound, what Strandell brings to the table, his love for Def Leppard, and more.

She's always had a passion for music, but she didn't get into Hard Rock and Heavy Metal music until she discovered Rick Allen's story in the summer of 2019. She was inspired by his determination to play drums for Def Leppard again after losing his left arm in a car accident. From there, her tastes expanded to other bands such as AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Metallica, Judas Priest, Saxon, Cinderella, and Overkill. Aside from listening to music, she loves watching YouTube and writing on her personal blog.
