Livin’ The Life

It’s a good time to be a Jeff Scott Soto fan. In the last year alone Jeff has released three new albums, re-released one out of print album, and produced the debut album from a member of his SOTO project. If you’re not a Jeff Scott Soto fan, what are you waiting for? Soto has been a part of over 100 releases and projects over the years starting with his debut as the vocalist of Yngwie J. Malmsteen’s Rising Force on their self-titled 1984 album.

Besides a very productive solo career, the one time Journey touring vocalist is currently performing with Sons of Apollo and seasonally with Trans Siberian Orchestra. I had the chance to speak with Soto shorty before the release of his latest album The Duets Collection, Volume 1. The album features a bevy of special guests hand-picked by Soto to share vocal duties on some of his favorite songs from the many projects he’s been apart of over the last 35+ years.

Highlights Include

  • Discussion of his latest album The Duets Collection, Volume 1
  • Why he chose the artists he did to appear on the album
  • The return of the vinyl format
  • Did any artist have to pass on The Duets Collection
  • Hitting the road again after a long break
  • His future tour plans
  • Where he is in the process of a new solo album
  • How Soto and Frontiers Music first hooked up 25 years ago
  • The one time Jeff met the recently retired David Lee Roth
  • Why he prefers Dave over Sammy in Van Halen
  • Has Jeff thought about retirement
  • … and much, much more!
