This Friday’s Guest DJ: SIREN

Siren 2021

SIREN is an American traditional heavy metal band that was formed in Brandon, Florida in 1981. Four releases (2 demos and 2 official LPs) saw the light of day back in the ’80s. Although all of them were very well received, the band went on hiatus in 1990.

Things started to change in 2015. Drummer Ed Aborn wrote down his recollection of the years from the start of the band up to the No Place Like Home album (1986). The result was the e-book Siren – The Early Years. Capturing this history provided an opportunity for the former bandmates to reconnect with no initial plans for reunion. However, band was offered the opportunity to perform at the prestigious KEEP IT TRUE festival in Germany which came to reality in 2018.

That led to several independent labels to reach out with offers to release an anthology of the band’s early demos and other recordings. The result was the massive Up from the Depths collection which, in addition to the older material, featured three new, original songs. As a follow up, SIREN decided to enter the studio again to record a full album of new material. The latest album, Back from the Dead was released in 2020.

Now has come time for SIREN to show off on Metal Express Radio too as this week’s Guest DJs.

Tune in at 15:00 and 21:00 CET/ 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. EST this Friday to hear the show!
