Come On Feel The Beast

James Durbin was a finalist on the 10th season of American Idol. He was the contestant that tried bringing Metal to the otherwise poppy show. You may remember his legendary live performance with Judas Priest from that season’s finale. After a handful of Pop Rock album releases, Durbin was tapped as the new front man for Quiet Riot in 2017. Reviews for the two studio album’s James appeared on were mixed. However, I have to say that Durbin really shines on Quiet Riot’s 2019 live release, One Night in Milan. On February 12, 2021 James Durbin is tearing off the mask and debuting his new project simply titled Durbin. The album is The Beast Awakens and I will let James tell you all about it.

Highlights Include

  • Discussion of The Beast Awakens
  • Origins of the album title
  • How he met Chris Jericho (Fozzy) and got him to appear on the album
  • Why he had less control of his earlier albums
  • How much say Frontiers has in his recording
  • His time in Quiet Riot and why originally passed on the offer
  • Sharing the stage with his Rock heroes
  • … and much, much more

Durbin is

James Durbin – Vocals, Guitars
Barry Sparks – Bass
Mike Vanderhule – Drums
Earl Salindo – Keyboards

  1. I watched that season of American Idol when James was on. I almost lost my mind when Zakk Wylde showed up on stage. Then in the finale Judas Priest LOL.
