Rush Of Death is the third album from Almanac. Started as a side project by Belarus native and Rage guitarist Victor Smolski, Almanac quickly took on a life of its own. Currently featuring multi-instrumentalist Smolski as musical director, guitar, cello, sitar, piano, and keyboards, vocal tag-team Patrick Sühl and Jeannette Marchewka, bass player Tim Rashid and drummer Kevin Kott, Almanac has produced their heaviest release yet.

Rush Of Death is an impressive display of Symphonic Metal, Progressive Metal, Epic Metal and Classical influences coupled with virtuoso performances and well-crafted songs that take the listener on a journey. The title track, “Rush Of Death”, adds some Thrashy elements, along with some very Progressive timing into a raucous and yet emotive experience for the listener. “Satisfied” is the longest song on the record, and diehard Progressive Metal fans will enjoy its multiple shifts and turns, that function almost movements within the song.

Throughout the record, the production is outstanding and very well suited to the style of music. Crisp and sharp, modern and clean. Each instrument is well defined, from drums to keys to clean guitars, and rhythm and lead guitars, all are lush and rich. Rush Of Death is a great sounding record, and the production serves as a great platform to showcase the impressive and we constructed material. Well worth a listen for any Metal, Progressive Metal, Symphonic Metal, and of course Victor Smolski and Almanac fan.

Stevie was a reviewer here at Metal Express Radio. He is currently the lead guitarist for Melodic Rock band Red Reign, based in Richmond, Virginia, USA. Red Reign toured with Tesla in 2017, and shared the stage with Dokken, FireHouse, Lita Ford, Kix, Quiet Riot, and others at various dates around the US in 2018. Stevie heard his first KISS record at the age of 6 and was immediately hooked on Rock and Roll guitar. Over the course of years his tastes evolved, graduating from KISS to Ozzy and Van Halen; and then into Hair Metal. Over time, harder and faster music drew him. Bands like Metallica, Pantera, and Anthrax led the way, and Killswitch Engage took him over the top. Stevie has a deep passion for the guitar, not only playing them, but building them as well.
