Tales Of Fire And Ice is the latest release from Polish Heavy Metal band Crystal Viper. Formed in 2007 and considered initially an NWOTHM (new wave of traditional heavy metal) act, the band’s latest effort takes a heavier, more intense, and yet more melodic approach. On Tales Of Fire And Ice, the title of the album refers to the overall concepts of the lyrics, while the songs themselves were inspired by legends, mysterious stories and secrets of the world, such as The Bermuda Triangle, the Dyatlov Pass incident, alien abduction, or the subglacial ghost mountains of Arctica.

This female-fronted Heavy Metal band features Marta Gabriel (vocals, guitars), Andy Wave (guitars), Eric Juris (guitars), Blaze J. Grygiel (bass), Tomek Danczak (drums), and each turns in a stellar performance. The 11 tracks included on this release are dramatic and well produced. One bright spot is the inclusion of a cover of Dokken’s “Dream Warriors”. A bold choice for inclusion and Crystal Viper turns in a decent version, covering the bases as well as adding some of themselves to the track.

There are Symphonic, Melodic, and even some Progressive Metal influences represented throughout the record, and while not every song is captivating, most are solid. Fans of Crystal Viper, NWOTHM, Melodic Metal, Symphonic Metal, and Epic Metal will find some enjoyable listening here.

Stevie was a reviewer here at Metal Express Radio. He is currently the lead guitarist for Melodic Rock band Red Reign, based in Richmond, Virginia, USA. Red Reign toured with Tesla in 2017, and shared the stage with Dokken, FireHouse, Lita Ford, Kix, Quiet Riot, and others at various dates around the US in 2018. Stevie heard his first KISS record at the age of 6 and was immediately hooked on Rock and Roll guitar. Over the course of years his tastes evolved, graduating from KISS to Ozzy and Van Halen; and then into Hair Metal. Over time, harder and faster music drew him. Bands like Metallica, Pantera, and Anthrax led the way, and Killswitch Engage took him over the top. Stevie has a deep passion for the guitar, not only playing them, but building them as well.
