The Ghost Light is the third full length release from English Rock band Theia. Based in Burton-On-Trent, this three-piece band consists of vocalist, guitarist Kyle Lamley, bassist Paul Edwards and drummer Jake Dalton. Lamley was raised on his father’s collection of 70s records, including, Marc Bolan, Alice Cooper and AC/DC, and those influences are clearly evident in this release. The 70s classic rock vibe permeates The Ghost Light. The band cites more modern influences as well, including Buckcherry, Alter Bridge, and Guns N’ Roses to name a few. The 70s vibe is undeniable, and Southern Rock and Blues Rock elements abound.

Harmonica and wah-wah solos, blues progressions, and a definite bluesy quality to Lamley’s voice carry the music straight into classic rock territory. Edwards bass style is very much like a rhythm guitarist, sort of a hybrid of Lemmy and Rex Brown, and he does a nice job of filling out the three-piece sound. Theia manages to infuse some great heavy riffs into their Classic Rock stylings, particularly in the opening track, “What You Want”, before swinging into the much groovier “Mask Of The Day”. There is a nice mix of heavy and bluesy throughout the record, and it is definitely worth a listen. Hard Rock, Classic Rock, Blues Rock and even Southern Rock fans will dig The Ghost Light by Theia.

Stevie was a reviewer here at Metal Express Radio. He is currently the lead guitarist for Melodic Rock band Red Reign, based in Richmond, Virginia, USA. Red Reign toured with Tesla in 2017, and shared the stage with Dokken, FireHouse, Lita Ford, Kix, Quiet Riot, and others at various dates around the US in 2018. Stevie heard his first KISS record at the age of 6 and was immediately hooked on Rock and Roll guitar. Over the course of years his tastes evolved, graduating from KISS to Ozzy and Van Halen; and then into Hair Metal. Over time, harder and faster music drew him. Bands like Metallica, Pantera, and Anthrax led the way, and Killswitch Engage took him over the top. Stevie has a deep passion for the guitar, not only playing them, but building them as well.
