Backslash is a Traditional Metal band out of Germany who has a small handful of releases already to their credit. Their latest release is entitled Sinister Lightning, which definitely oozes of being ominous and dark to say the least.  However, titles can be deceiving, as this album is rather upbeat and at times very melodic.  Creativity-wise, Backslash receives rather low marks – pretty much everything has been done before many times over.  However, their extended jams, which kick in to initially sound very Iron Maiden-ish, have plenty of spark and get-up-and-go to them, making this an album worthy of your attention.

Based out of Indianapolis, USA he was first turned on to Hard Rock music in the mid-1970s when he purchased Deep Purple's Machine Head as his first album. He was immediately enthralled with the powerful guitar sound and pronounced drumbeat, and had to get more! His collection quickly expanded to include as many of Heavy Rock bands of the time that he could get his hands on, such as Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath, to name just a few.
