Exotheria hail from Italy, and although the band has been around for the better part of 20 years, Angels Are Calling is their debut full-length release. Exotheria play an interesting mix of Helloween-ish Power Metal, coupled with some light Symphonic and Neo-classical elements. If you can imagine a mid-road blend between Helloween and Angra, you pretty much have Exotheria. By and large, this album works very well and is an enjoyable listen that is well-written and produced. Vocalist Nicola Ciarlini generally performs well, but noticeably comes across off-key at times … really the only apparent weakness in Angels Are Calling.

Based out of Indianapolis, USA he was first turned on to Hard Rock music in the mid-1970s when he purchased Deep Purple's Machine Head as his first album. He was immediately enthralled with the powerful guitar sound and pronounced drumbeat, and had to get more! His collection quickly expanded to include as many of Heavy Rock bands of the time that he could get his hands on, such as Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath, to name just a few.
