Born Of Fire is a 5-piece outfit from Arizona, USA, that formed originally in the late ‘90s and Dead Winter Sun is their second full-length release. Within this album, the band displays themselves at times as a Power Metal band in the vein of Iced Earth, and then at other times as a reflective Progressive Metal band. Actually, Dead Winter Sun is more or less divided by those 2 subgenres, with the album’s 2nd half delving much more into Progressive musical passages. Gordon Tittsworth is a capable vocalist, but comes through much more enjoyably when the band explores Progressive experimentations.

Based out of Indianapolis, USA he was first turned on to Hard Rock music in the mid-1970s when he purchased Deep Purple's Machine Head as his first album. He was immediately enthralled with the powerful guitar sound and pronounced drumbeat, and had to get more! His collection quickly expanded to include as many of Heavy Rock bands of the time that he could get his hands on, such as Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath, to name just a few.
