Here is another epic Power/Speed Metal band. This time it’s from Budapest, Hungary. Wisdom was formed in 2001, playing Melodic Metal with a measure of speed. They released their first official release in 2004 which was a self titled EP under the label, Music Works. Since then they released a full length album in 2006 by the name of Words Of Wisdom under their current label, Nail Records. Their latest EP release, At The Gates is a continuation of their work in the same vein of their earlier album.

There is not a lot to say about this EP because it’s a very short one but there are some anecdotes that should be mentioned. The production is 10/10, simple perfect and really helps this EP to get the praise it deserves. It’s evident that the music is very much influenced by the EU Power Metal scene. This release, in many ways, resembles one of the German Metallers, Edguy, best release – Symbol Of Salvation. Musically, the sound is almost identical. The only problem with the album is that there is nothing new here just good sound and a good, short, epic story.

This album provides almost everything. A wonderful classical theme as an opener, a powerful and melodic speedster, and finally, a great emotive ballad. The special main character of this release is the singer, Istvan Nachladal. This guy has a terrific voice full with melodies and emotion which exactly fits this sub-genre. It’s a shame that he left the band after this release though.

On this release all 3 tracks are equally good and performed with sheer excellence. From the opener till the ballad, there is no doubt about it; this band can go as far as they want even without the help of Nachladal. The Metal world should salute these guys because they are the future generation of Power Metal.
