( votes)Should you be familiar with Stan Bush? He’s definitely got interesting musicians playing on his CD! Kenny Aranoff (John Fogerty, Melissa Etheridge, John Cougar Mellencamp) on drums, and Matt Bissonette (David Lee Roth) on bass.
Frontiers is a label known for high quality hard rock releases, so it comes as no surprise to find that this too is well-played and produced melodic hard rock, not far from the likes of Foreigner, Survivor, and even Loverboy.
Upon doing some research, it was found that Stan Bush is an Emmy winning artist, which is not surprising since his voice is made for American AOR radio. This is perfect background music for summer nights and cruising in your car. Just listen to the spacey guitar on “What You Mean Tonight,” and then tell me it doesn’t cry out to be played loud in the clear and sunny summer night.
The lyrics deal with relationships, love and not giving up. Your customary “yeahs” and “babies” are also present in the lyrics. The chorus in “Say It Ain’t Love” is a real killer. I can’t seem to get it out of my head. Tell me this ain’t love.
You get your ballads and more punchy songs with lots of guitar thrown in, along with Bush’s strong vocals that are pushed into the front on the mix. The clear and metallic drum sound, along with the before mentioned spacey guitar sound, are guaranteed to make you tap your foot and nod your head!
