JOE AZZOPARDI (UPPER LIP): “You Cannot Be A Copycat And Call Yourself An Artist”

Upper Lip

Heroes of Gozo

Hailing from the Island of Gozo, Upper Lip formed in 2013, busting their chops from local gig to local gig. The group channeled their rock heroes such as AC/DC, Rush, Rory Gallagher, and Waylon Jennings when it came time to put music to record on their debut release Deep Within. Upper Lip is lead by guitarist and main songwriter Joe Azzopardi. I had the chance to speak with Joe shortly after the album’s official release.
