Binary Creed is a Swedish Progressive band, and A Battle Won is their sophomore release. As with their debut, Binary Creed has opted to create a concept album … this time centering around war and terror — both pretty good topics to build an aggressive Metal album around. As expected from a Progressive Metal album, the production quality is stellar and crisp … in particular Peter Widding’s drum sounds are so realistic, you may think he’s set his kit up in your listening room.

The band lists Dream Theater as a primary influence, and you can hear that especially in the musical passages. As is typical with many concept albums, melody and catchiness is somewhat compromised in favor of force-fitting a storyline … and unfortunately A Battle Won falls into that conundrum. However, there’s plenty of “progressiveness” to sink your teeth into with this album, so enthusiasts of this subgenre will likely enjoy what they hear.

Based out of Indianapolis, USA he was first turned on to Hard Rock music in the mid-1970s when he purchased Deep Purple's Machine Head as his first album. He was immediately enthralled with the powerful guitar sound and pronounced drumbeat, and had to get more! His collection quickly expanded to include as many of Heavy Rock bands of the time that he could get his hands on, such as Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath, to name just a few.
