Onward is a USA-based Power Metal band that issued a small handful of albums, but has since disbanded due to the death of their vocalist Michael Grant.  Pure Steel Records has resurrected the band via reissues of previously released albums.  Onward’s 1st album Evermoving was a quality debut featuring the guitar prowess of Toby Knapp, boasting a playing style similar to Randy Rhoads.  Onward’s 2nd album, Reawaken, is more stylistically Epic than the first, and Knapp’s guitar playing is (unfortunately) polished up to conform to that subgenre.  Overall, Reawaken is a quality release, but tires some after the midway point.

Based out of Indianapolis, USA he was first turned on to Hard Rock music in the mid-1970s when he purchased Deep Purple's Machine Head as his first album. He was immediately enthralled with the powerful guitar sound and pronounced drumbeat, and had to get more! His collection quickly expanded to include as many of Heavy Rock bands of the time that he could get his hands on, such as Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath, to name just a few.
