Venomous Maximus is a Doomy Occult Metal outfit hailing from Houston, Texas, USA, and their first LP is entitled Beg Upon The Light. The band has enjoyed rapid success in the Texas underground scene, presumably due to their over-the-top bizarre lyrical approach giving justice to their physical stage appearance. Musically, Venomous Maximus is dark, menacing, and methodical, and vocalist Gregg Higgins comes across as a mix between Dracula and The God Of Hellfire (Arthur Brown). Beg Upon The Light starts out interesting, but lack of variety along with substandard production quality causes the album to lose steam about halfway through.

Based out of Indianapolis, USA he was first turned on to Hard Rock music in the mid-1970s when he purchased Deep Purple's Machine Head as his first album. He was immediately enthralled with the powerful guitar sound and pronounced drumbeat, and had to get more! His collection quickly expanded to include as many of Heavy Rock bands of the time that he could get his hands on, such as Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath, to name just a few.
