Torgeir was a reviewer here at Metal Express Radio. After hearing Malmsteen's "Vengeance" on a guitar mag CD at the age of 12 or 13, he began doing hopeless interpretations of Yngwie licks and it just took off from there. After shorter stints at other zines he was snatched to Metal Express Radio in 2003. Alongside Yngwie, Savatage, WASP, Symphony X, Blind Guardian, Emperor, Arch Enemy, In Flames, Opeth, Motörhead, Manowar, and Queensrÿche are a quick list of musical faves. Torgeir is also guitarist in the Heavy/Prog/Thrash outfit Sarpedon.

Interview with Peter Iwers (In Flames)

March 1, 2004 Torgeir P. Krokfjord 0

In Flames are releasing a new album, Soundtrack to Your Escape, very soon, and of course Metal Express is there to tell you. Here’s what bassist Peter Iwers told Torgeir Krokfjord. I’m tired, he starts. …READ MORE

DREAM THEATER (Live)

January 21, 2004 Torgeir P. Krokfjord 0

Dream Theater rocks. As did this gig. For my part, this was the first gig I got to see in some time (yes, shame on me, I know, I know), but it turned to be …READ MORE

SCARIOT – Strange To Numbers

November 26, 2003 Torgeir P. Krokfjord 0

Scariot hits you hard. It’s almost so I’d call them Scare-iot instead, or maybe Sca-Riot (Ska-riot has to be a great name if someone has an anarchistic reggae band going?). No, seriously, their prog-power-thrash mix …READ MORE

CRYSTAL BALL – Hellvetia

November 3, 2003 Torgeir P. Krokfjord 0

Sometimes small things manage to enter your head and you never seem to get rid of them. I can list lots of different examples — tongues of ugly chicks at 3 A.M. (boys), penises your …READ MORE

GRIFFIN – No Hold Barred

October 30, 2003 Torgeir P. Krokfjord 0

Yes! Norway has suddenly gotten a golden opportunity to be known for something that is not brown cheese, mountains or Black Metal. All of those are great, of course – I’ve eaten quite a lot …READ MORE

DEVILDRIVER – Devildriver

October 28, 2003 Torgeir P. Krokfjord 0

Dez Fafara (ex-Coal Chamber) is back with a new band: DevilDriver! Judging by Fafara’s name, you’d probably guess they played marches or fanfare music or something, but that’s surprisingly enough not the case. Instead, it’s …READ MORE

ZZ TOP – Mescalero

September 8, 2003 Torgeir P. Krokfjord 0

Most of nowadays’ pop and rock acts rely to a great extent on the looks of the band members to sell records and acquire fame. In a rather obscure way, would I argue that looks …READ MORE

DIATRIBE – Diatribe (EP)

September 6, 2003 Torgeir P. Krokfjord 0

“Hardcore” is a term I usually use when referring to porn, but I have also heard that term can be used to connote a music genre, and the Australian up-and-comers Diatribe place themselves comfortably inside …READ MORE

AMULET – Danger! Danger!

August 4, 2003 Torgeir P. Krokfjord 0

I’m not at all what you could call a punk rock authority. Actually, I really don’t know very much about the genre at all. I know I like some Sex Pistols songs, and the intro …READ MORE

MANOWAR - Sign Of The Hammer

MANOWAR – Sign Of The Hammer

July 6, 2003 Torgeir P. Krokfjord 0

Manowar is a band that has meant very much to very many Metalheads worldwide, with their to-the-bone attitude and undisguised (ab)use of Denim & Leather, thundergodz, iron underpants and the like. This image has lately …READ MORE
