TESLA (Live)

Rock and Roll icons Tesla made their way to the Peppermill Concert Hall in Wendover, NV. on June 9th, 2023, to play a show that Sold Out in minutes. The venue was set, the crowd was set, but was the band ready? Without a doubt that question was answered, they were. Opening the show with “Lady Luck”, “Modern Day Cowboy” and “Hang Tough”, Jeff Keith’s stage presence and crowd interaction, kept the shows energy building from start to finish. The phenomenal guitar work of Frank Hannon and Dave Rude, brought to life those guitar riffs and solos we remember, and new ones, as they continued with “Time to Rock” from their new album Full Throttle Live, followed by “Heaven’s Trail”, “Miles Away” and “Changes”. Lets not forget the solid work of bassist Brian Wheat and drummer Steve Brown, who kept the sound driving without letting up. The 18 song setlist also included “Lazy Days, Crazy Nights”, “Call It What You Want”, “What You Give” and “Love Song”. The show ended with the band playing two of their classic cover songs “Little Suzi” (Ph.D. cover) and “Signs” (Five Man Electrical Band cover). The band as a whole were tight and the sound superb, leaving you feeling satisfied and nostalgic as you left the show. Tesla is currently on tour through August, before appearing for multiple shows at the House of Blues in Vegas starting in September.

Interview with Troy Luccketta (Tesla)

Tesla’s Troy Luccketta chatted to Metal Express Radio about the recently released Real To Reel covers album. New album Real To Reel is a covers album. When he brought it back to our attention, we were going to pass on it. It just seemed like there were so many covers records out that we didn’t want to jump on the bandwagon. He just said it’d be fun for us to do and said just get in there and do it!! We had a new introduction to the band, Dave Rude, our new guitar player, and he said “Just go and have some fun,” which is what we did. We were in the studio for 3 weeks and we had 25 songs done. There’s a real diverse selection of tracks on the album from Purple, Zep, to The Temptations and The Guess Who. How did you select the tracks… did you all chip in and vote? Initially there were going to be 14 tracks that we were going to record over a couple of weeks. After the first weekend, we had 10 done and our manager started bringing in a bunch of discs and it just opened the floodgates for people to suggest songs. A lot of songs kept popping up and it was literally just capturing the moment; what we were listening to at that time. There are staples of bands that you HAVE to cover. We didn’t even have a Deep Purple track at first or a Zeppelin track. They came later, towards the end of the recording sessions. They weren’t …READ MORE
