ROBIN McAULEY: “I Absolutely Love What I Do!”

Few vocalists can have a career from the 80s that just keeps going, where they seem to be getting better with age. Robin McAuley is on of those singers, and with the upcoming release of his second solo album Alive, he shows that his passion for his music has only grown. Metal Express Radio’s Bryce Van Patten spoke with the vocal legend Robin McAuley about his brand new solo album Alive, his band, Michael Schenker, Graham Bonnet, and a whole lot more! ROBIN MCAULEY (BLACK SWAN, MSG): “Why Would I Want To Do More Of The Same?”

Shaking the World When Michael Schenker Fest released Resurrection in 2018, it had been a long time since we heard Robin McAuley’s legendary voice on a recorded album. The McAuley Schenker Group front man hasn’t let up since. After appearing on 2019’s Revelation album, Robin formed the supergroup Black Swan, featuring Jeff Pilson (Dokken, Foreigner), Reb Beach (Winger), and Matt Starr (Ace Frehley, Mr. Big). Their debut album Shake the World was released on Frontiers Music in 2020. Not willing to rest on that, McAuley returned to the studio to record his first solo album in over 20 years. Standing on the Edge finds Robin exploring the sounds and inspirations of his musical legacy. I had the chance to speak with Robin McAuley prior to the album’s release. Highlights Include: Discussion of his new solo album Standing on the Edge Which musicians he brought in to contribute Why Robin seemed to have disappeared in the ’90s? What he was doing during that time Working on the second Black Swan album How the pandemic influenced his songwriting Recording through file sharing Is touring going to be possible for him … and much, much more!
