Chapter X is the tenth album from Swedish Metal band Tad Morose. The band celebrates 27 years of making music with this record, and original guitarist Christer Krunt Andersson leads a line up consisting of vocalist Ronnie Hemlin, who joined in 2008; guitarist Kenneth Jonsson, 2012, new bassist Johan Lofgren, and drummer Peter Moren, who has been in the band since 1994. Chapter X is a well produced, good sounding Progressive/Power Metal record for the region of the world producing arguably the best Metal music in the world right now. Lyrically and musically dark, the 14 songs on Chapter X yield about an hour of music that leave the listener feeling, well, a tad morose. Reminiscent at times of King Diamond, there is a sort of darkness that permeates, and if that’s your thing, this is the record for you. Very strong performances make this a very solid record, with chops a plenty, from vocals to guitars to drums. Tasteful use of more progressive elements keep the record listenable, never veering so far into technicality that it becomes tedious. Overall, Chapter X is a good listen for Tad Morose fans, Progressive and Power Metal fans, and Black Metal fans.
