Metal Express Radio’s Rating Scale

10.0:         Cannot be improved! Perfect, instant classic! Essential in any record collection.
9.5 – 9.9:  Fantastic, spectacular and outstanding!
9.0 – 9.4:  Amazing release! It just lacks that little extra spice to make it perfect.
8.5 – 8.9:  Exceptional release! Will likely rank among top ten albums of the year.
8.0 – 8.4:  Great release! It has many different qualities.
7.5 – 7.9:  Above average! It is an enjoyable release.
7.0 – 7.4:  It is not brilliant, but has many strong points.
6.0 – 6.9:  It has its moments, but is not that strong.
5.0 – 5.9:  Slightly above average, does not stand out. Good outweighs bad by just a little.
4.0 – 4.9:  Just below average, bad outweighs good by just a little.
3.0 – 3.9:  Mediocre. There might be a song or a performance that is enjoyable, but that is it.
2.0 – 2.9:  Very weak! There might be a light at the end of the tunnel, too many flaws.
1.0 – 1.9:  This release gives the word “terrible” new meaning.
0.1 – 0.9:  Awful! Avoid at all cost. There is nothing good to say about this release.

ROOSTER – Momentous

December 1, 2000 Frode Johnsrud Leave a comment
From the remains of Painted Sick Illusion, Rooster from Jevnaker, Norway arises. The band grooves like hell, without parallels to Pantera. Rooster is modern and traditional hard rock at the same time, and I have …READ MORE

GEDDY LEE – My Favorite Headache

November 14, 2000 Frode Johnsrud Leave a comment
The first solo album from Rush vocalist/bassist! Some have waited a loooong time for this, and stormed the music-stores upon it’s release. I have to admit the rush of customers were not as strong as, …READ MORE

PAGAN’S MIND – Infinity Divine

November 1, 2000 Frode Johnsrud Leave a comment
The debut from Pagan’s Mind, from Skien, Norway, is by all means worthy a five, but long I thought of giving it only four – simply because there are several things to do to improve. …READ MORE

BRITNY FOX – Long Way To Live!

October 17, 2000 Frode Johnsrud Leave a comment
Britny Fox wasn’t dead, but I believe they dropped by. As far as I know, they kept quiet during the nineties. The drummer still plays with Doro, while the others probably went to church every …READ MORE

SINPHONIA – When The Tide Breaks

September 6, 2000 Frode Johnsrud Leave a comment
The makers of red sausage are ready to present an interesting band. Italian Lucretia already collected the band’s signatures in contract, and if I’m not mistaken, more people will get in line after hearing this. …READ MORE

PAUL GILBERT – Alligator Farm

September 6, 2000 Frode Johnsrud Leave a comment
I really don’t know what to make of this Paul Gilbert solo album. It is a mixture of brash, loud, fast “new punkish” tunes including widdly diddly guitar solols, a cover of the Spice Girls …READ MORE

A TRIBUTE TO SAVATAGE – Return Of The Mountain King

September 6, 2000 Frode Johnsrud Leave a comment
Return Of The Mountain King Underground Symphony This is the same thing that Dwell Records released a while back, but this edition is an Italian re-release with five additional Italian bands. True, nobody deserves a tribute …READ MORE

SAIGON KICK – Greatest Hits Live Around The World 1991 – 1996

August 22, 2000 Frode Johnsrud Leave a comment
I still claim to be a huge fan of Saigon Kick, though I had not much positive to say about their last CD – and so is the case with this live disc. Phil Varone, …READ MORE

STEPHEN PEARCY – Before And Laughter (Part 1)

August 22, 2000 Frode Johnsrud Leave a comment
The soap opera of Ratt has no ending, though I wouldn’t mind if Stephen joined his old friends (?) after seeing Ratt live recently. This is another “clean the attic” thing, it has Stephen’s old …READ MORE

BABYLON A.D. – American Blitzkrieg

July 4, 2000 Frode Johnsrud Leave a comment
Babylon A.D. was without doubt the best ”L.A. band” a decade ago. A decade is a long time, and this CD proves that. The band does by no means sound too modern, still you can …READ MORE
