Germany’s Iron Savior has been creating quality Power Metal for nearly 20 years — now fans get a chance to better experience the band via their new DVD/2-CD release entitled Live At The Final Frontier (this review only covers the CD set). Live albums are tricky … sometimes they can display sides of a band and their music in mind-blowing ways never experienced before (e.g., UFO’s Strangers In The Night), while other times live albums sound sterile and crave a band’s essential studio pizzazz. Unfortunately, this album falls into the latter category, further harmed by audience interaction spoken in German.
Dan is a former partner at Metal Express Radio, and also served as a reviewer, photographer and interviewer on occasions. Based out of Indianapolis, USA he was first turned on to Hard Rock music in the mid-1970s when he purchased Deep Purple's Machine Head as his first album. He was immediately enthralled with the powerful guitar sound and pronounced drumbeat, and had to get more! His collection quickly expanded to include as many of Heavy Rock bands of the time that he could get his hands on, such as Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath, to name just a few.
