Few heavy metal acts have had the staying power and drive to push their craft forward for 40 years while still improving their music, as Helloween has. As one of the founding bands of power metal, Helloween is still thriving, and quite possibly is at its peak of perfection with what has been called their “magnificent 7” lineup.
On a Tuesday evening in Seattle, Washington, Helloween brought their 40th anniversary tour to avid heavy metal fans and delivered an amazing 2+ hour-long performance for the ages, with songs ranging from their first album to their latest release, Giants & Monsters.
The set featured songs by each member, giving the audience a sample from their history and showcasing each member’s contribution to the Helloween legacy. From “Ride The Sky” featuring Kai Hansen, to “Hey Lord” with Andi Deris, and “March of Time” featuring Michael Kiske, they took turns each singing their songs.
As the final chords echoed out into the Seattle night and the crowd began to filter out, one truth remained absolute: Helloween isn’t just surviving on past merits—they are actively building on them. If this performance is any indication of the band’s current trajectory, they show no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Forty years in, and once again Helloween proved they are still at the top of their game, leaving the audience with a definitive reminder of why they remain one of the most influential forces in heavy metal.
