JAGER FELICE (LEVELS): “We Continue To Always Try To Punch Above Our Weight Class”

A professional promotional group portrait of the metalcore band LEVELS. The four members are posed in an urban outdoor setting against a neutral stone wall. They are dressed in contemporary streetwear—hoodies, flannels, and black denim. From left to right: the bassist, guitarist, vocalist Kolby Carignan in the center, and the drummer. The lighting is soft and natural, emphasizing a serious and cohesive band identity.

Arkansas industrial metal band Levels are set to release their sophomore full length album entitled This Will Make You Feel Again on April 10th. Level’s guitarist Jager Felice spoke with Metal Express Radio about their upcoming album, playing the upcoming Rock Fest, working with a DIY approach, and more. Check out the chat below!

Metal Express Radio: Levels are set to release their new album entitled This Will Make You Feel Again on April 10th, what can you tell fans about the upcoming release?

Felice : This will be the most intentional, authentic and polarizing release from LEVELS. This album builds upon our previous release (PULSE EP) and turns everything up to 10 in every different direction we incorporated previously. There’s a lot of emotion wrapped up into this album from the riffs, the production, the electronic elements, the lyrics, the melodies etc. THIS WILL MAKE YOU FEEL AGAIN.

MER: How was the writing and recording process, being your second full album?

Falice: Both the most rewarding and most frustrating thing we have ever created together. Challenging ourselves in so many new ways to create and think outside the box. Throwing away any previous notions of who we were in order to create something that started from a place of genuine authenticity that just so happened to all blend together perfectly. We’ve always tried to compete with the big bands even though we’re from Arkansas. We continue to always try to punch above our weight class and this is no different.

MER: You’ve released four songs from the album so far, do you feel those songs give the fans an idea on what to expect from the full album?

Felice: It gives them a taste. The album is very eclectic in its own right and there are lots of different styles of songs on the album while still retaining what LEVELS is.

MER: What do you see as plans for you and Levels after the album is released?

Felice: TOUR. If that’s our own headliner, great. If it’s supporting another band, great. Either way we just want to get out and play for our fans and continue building the LEVELS NETWORK and adding more and more NODES.

MER: This Summer, Levels are scheduled to play Rock Fest with a diverse lineup of bands such as Limp Bizkit, Body Count, and Insane Clown Posse, what are your expectations on the upcoming festival, and is there anyone you’re looking forward to watching if you get the time?

Felice: We’re going into it with the same mindset we always have. Go all out, put on the best show we can give the audience and leave the stage knowing we gave it everything we had. No matter how many people are there, we will always be the same way. Pumped to check out Limp Bizkit!

MER: Is there anyone you hope to tour with and why?

Felice: Limp Bizkit and Static-X. Both of those bands shaped who I am and the music that I write.

MER: Is there anywhere you hope to play live and why?

Felice: I’m looking forward to playing in the UK and Germany! I feel like our music will really resonate there and will create a special feeling live.

MER: Since forming in 2016, you’ve played some major festivals, and have toured with some big names such as Kittie, Beartooth, and The Devil Wears Prada just to name a few, how has it been having this much success with DIY approach?

Felice: We’ve run into countless challenges along the way and moments like that remind us to keep our heads down and keep working and the hard work will pay off.

MER: Out of two full albums, and one EP, what is one piece of music you would suggest to a new fan and why?

Felice: Blue Heaven is a taste of everything we have to offer in one unique track.
