User Review
( vote)Norwegian hard rock band Lily Löwe have returned with their sophomore studio album called, Beautiful Disaster, which will be released on February 6, 2026. The lineup that plays on the album includes Lill Sofie Wilsberg on lead vocals, Adrian Sunde Bjerketvedt on guitars, Stian Hansen on guitars, Patrik K. Svendsen on bass guitar, and Eiliv Sagrusten on drums. For those who aren’t familiar with Lily Löwe, think of catchy choruses, melodic hooks, pounding drums, and polished vocals. In 2022, the band released their debut studio album, LÖWE, which was produced by Trond Holter. Back then, they weren’t even a band because only Wilsberg was part of the lineup. Not wanting Lily Löwe to be a solo project, Wilsberg hired the best musicians she could find in the Norwegian hard rock scene and together, they created Beautiful Disaster.
Concise and Commercial Sounding, Minus the Swear Words
This album is very concise and cohesive, as it’s only 27 minutes long. It’s a commercial-sounding album with songs that are catchy and melodic in their own ways. The songs center on notable themes such as mental health, freedom, self-expression, and failed romance. “Demons” has that commercial and pop rock feel reminiscent of Demi Lovato’s “Heart Attack.” Like Wilsberg, Lovato has a strong and powerful voice that’s suitable for rock, even though most of her music is pop centered. “Puppet Master,” a major standout on the album, has a really good chorus and a hook to die for. Oddly enough, it gives off Katy Perry vibes, if she were a rock singer, of course.
“Beg for Your Life” is much brighter and melodic with some heavy elements, but the lyrics sound like they were taken out of a revenge-fueled Korean drama. “Glitter & Gore” is a quirky and playful number that’s reminiscent of early Halestorm. “Wild” is a midtempo rocker all about freedom and self-expression. It’s got an underground nightclub feel. “Love Like This” is a pop-oriented power ballad with a lot of heart and emotion. The guitar solo is a bit short, but the same can be said for Richie Sambora’s guitar solo in Bon Jovi’s “We Weren’t Born to Follow.”
Beautiful Disaster gives off more pop rock vibes than hard rock vibes because of the polished production, the concise nature of the songs, catchy and melodic hooks, and Wilsberg’s enchanting radio-friendly vocals. Not that pop rock is a bad thing, but it’s not heavy enough, despite some of the guitar solos being quite good. The album cover is also um interesting. It shows Wilsberg screaming on the front cover because there are too many demons in her head. Due to streaming services, it can be assumed that album covers aren’t that big of a deal anymore. However the album cover for Beautiful Disaster looks cheap, like it was done in five minutes. Also, the swearing in certain songs were not necessary because they felt forced and insincere. Songs don’t need to have swear words to be killer bangers.
Final Assessment
Overall, Beautiful Disaster is a decent commercial-sounding album and it’s a fun listen, but the songs aren’t heavy enough and who knows if they’ll have a lasting impact on the hard rock world because they sound like cookie-cutter pop songs. It’s all based on perspective, however, so if interested, give Lily Löwe’s Beautiful Disaster a chance!
