
With a recording career that spans over 50 years with his former Genesis guitarist brother, Steve Hackett; with Symbiosis, the John Hackett Band and a bunch of solo albums and guest appearances John Hackett has a long and illustrious catalogue to draw from.
Tonight, was a 50th anniversary celebration of Steve Hackett’s Voyage Of The Acolyte, an album on which John Hackett featured prominently on flute so “Ace Of Wands” and “Hands Of the Priestess” featured early one with the thrilling slow building epic “Shadow of the Hierophant”, surely one of Prog’s finest moments, coming towards the end featuring some stirring guitar work from Nick Fletcher, who impressed throughout the night.
Other highlights included a Funky “Burnt Down Trees” and the wistful melody of “Dream Town” both featuring the beautiful vocals of Olga “Dikajee” Karpova, whose support slot earlier in the evening won over a fair few new fans.
The jangling melody of “Who Let The Rain In?” featured a strong hook as a counter weight to the longer more complex Prog passages of King Crimson’s “I Talk To The Wind”, while set closer “Red Hair” with its Slavic feel ended the show in an upbeat manner.
