( vote)Following their excellent debut album, Powerlords (2024), Italian power metal band Elettra Storm are striking while the iron is hot with their sophomore release, Evertale (2025), which will be released on October 24, 2025 through Scarlet Records. The lineup remains the same with Crystal Emiliani on lead vocals, Francis D. Mary on guitars and backing vocals, Matteo Antoni on guitars, Davide Sportiello on bass guitar and keyboards, and Matteo Norbedo on drums. With a few exceptions, most of the songs were solely written by Sportiello.
First things first, Evertale is a concise album, being only 42 minutes long. The longest song on the record is almost eight minutes total, but it doesn’t even feel like eight minutes; more on that later. The songs are straightforward and get their message across within a relatively short time frame. Also, it should be noted that Emiliani is a fantastic frontwoman for the band. She brings a unique presence and calming aura to Elettra Storm, which wouldn’t have been possible with a male vocalist. She gives the band that extra dose of melody needed for these songs to come alive.
Not Rewriting the Genre, But Creating Their Own Path
The album begins with the opening track, which is oddly titled, “Endgrame.” Nonetheless, it starts off the album with a banger. The ferocious double kick drumwork of Norbedo is top-notch, and Emiliani’s confident and fearless vocals send the song to the stratosphere. There’s so much melody that it comes across as sugary sweet, but there are worse things to complain about. “The Secrets of the Universe” follows a similar format, but a great song is a great song, and the guitar work between Mary and Antoni is incredible. “Hero Among Heroes” is power metal at its finest and the vocals between Emiliani and Mary blend really well together. The music for that one was co-written by Sportiello, Emiliani and Mary.
“Ride the Rainbow” is a commercial midtempo rocker with luscious melodies, very poppy in spots, and a satisfying hook to die for. The music for that one was also co-written by Sportiello, Emiliani, and Mary. “Master of Fairytales” is another wicked power metal track with majestic and orchestral instrumentation. Fittingly enough, the song takes listeners back to their childhood when fairytales ruled the world (and Disney franchises). “If the Stars Could Cry” is the almost eight minute long epic that closes the album, but musically, the song doesn’t feel overbearing or long at all. The lyrics, in a sense, reflect restoring peace in the world and within one another, which is not a bad way to go out. It’s a hopeful way to go out.
Final Assessment
Evertale sonically sounds amazing with a modern production that fits perfectly with the genre. The songs have an uplifting spirit, which contributes to the overall listening experience. The instrumentation is a weird blend between heavy, poppy, mystical, orchestral, and atmospheric. The keyboards definitely contribute to the mystical and atmospheric aspects of the band’s sound. The bottom line is, Evertale is a solid and concise power metal record with breathtaking female lead vocals. For those who are interested, give Elettra Storm’s Evertale a chance!
