Get ready for an electrifying start to your July as Metal Express Radio proudly announces that Danny Woodhead, the talented bass player for British electronic metal sensation Skies Turn Black, will be taking over The Friday Guest DJ Hour Show on Friday, July 4th!
This special appearance comes hot on the heels of Skies Turn Black’s highly anticipated new album, Broken Hearts & Bad Habits, which just dropped on June 27th, 2025, via Sliptrick Records.
Skies Turn Black, hailing from the North of England, are renowned for their unique electronic metal sound, blending guitar-driven heavy metal with elements of dance music and 80s heavy metal nostalgia. Since adding a keytar to their lineup, they’ve diversified their sound, incorporating the heaviness of dance music like dubstep to create an impactful twist on traditional metal.
Their new album, Broken Hearts & Bad Habits, focuses on strong hooks, intricate guitar work, and anthemic choruses. It bravely addresses personal issues of love, lust, heartbreak, and depression, with each song categorized as either a “Broken Heart” or a “Bad Habit” track. The album offers a diverse musical journey, from pop-influenced tracks with huge dance sections like “Moment in the Moonlight” and “Angel,” to 80s hair metal throwbacks such as “Bullet in My Heart,” and heavier riff-based songs like “On The Run.” It culminates with the atmospheric “Andromeda” and the emotional rock ballad “Edge of the World.”
You won’t want to miss Danny Woodhead spinning 10 rock and metal tracks that have inspired and influenced him, and celebrating the release of Broken Hearts & Bad Habits. Tune in this Friday, July 4th, to hear the sounds that shaped Skies Turn Black!
