THE DEVIL WEARS NADA – Postalgia

The album cover for 'The Devil Wears Nada - Postalgia' depicts a gothic, somewhat unsettling painting. In the center is a large, old brick house with multiple windows and a turret, surrounded by bare, gnarled trees. A graveyard with gravestones and skeletal figures is in the foreground, behind a black wrought-iron fence. Two large, disembodied hands with long, red fingers hover ominously in the sky above the house, as if manipulating strings. The band name 'the DEVIL WEARS NADA' is prominently displayed in white text, with 'Postalgia' in a smaller, golden script below it. The overall style is dark and somewhat eerie.

The Devil Wears Nada is a Swedish band that plays Melodic Hard Rock and incorporates haunted castle keyboards and other off-kilter instrumentation. Their debut album originally came out under the title Adecence in 2023, only to be picked up and rereleased by Eonian Records in 2025 with the name changed to Postalgia. For those unfamiliar with the word “postalgia”, it is defined as a longing for a future that idealizes a past experience, or a yearning for a golden future that never truly exists. It can be viewed as the opposite of “nostalgia,” which is a longing for the past.

That being said, musically The Devil Wears Nada sound much like their fellow Swedish cohorts in spine-tingling spookiness Ghost. In fact, the second track on Postalgia, “Patient Zero,” sounds like it was ripped off the b-side of a Ghost single. It’s dark, eerie, and full of wonderful uneasiness. The rest of the tracks more or less follow the same recipe, but not as overtly Ghost as “Patient Zero” tends to be.

The production quality of this release is outstanding. The sound is filled with well-rounded bass overtones and the ominous synth/keys come through with clarity and provide a memorable listening experience that hits you from several directions. Playing on a Melodic Hard Rock platform, The Devil Wears Nada are an easy listen with clean vocals that can be somewhat mesmerizing.

All in all, if you’re a Ghost fan or enjoy the tension that haunting keys can add to an album, then get your paws on Postalgia and you’ll find a number of influences and similarities (sans the overt satanic references). Good call overall by Eonian Records to give this album another shot at making an impact in the Melodica Hard Rock arena. Check it out!

Based out of Indianapolis, USA he was first turned on to Hard Rock music in the mid-1970s when he purchased Deep Purple's Machine Head as his first album. He was immediately enthralled with the powerful guitar sound and pronounced drumbeat, and had to get more! His collection quickly expanded to include as many of Heavy Rock bands of the time that he could get his hands on, such as Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath, to name just a few.
