This Friday, tune in to a very special edition of the Guest DJ Show on Metal Express Radio as Thomas Carlsen—the creative force behind Norway’s Melodic Heavy Metal powerhouse, Thomas Carlsen’s Transmission takes over the airwaves! To celebrate the release of his highly anticipated sophomore album, Clockwork Sky, Carlsen will be spinning 10 tracks that inspired him during the writing process for the new record.

Clockwork Sky drops the very same day—June 6th—on all streaming platforms. Picking up where the acclaimed debut, A Brave Horizon, left off, Carlsen’s latest opus explores the relentless passage of time, blending the anthemic arena rock of the 80s with modern-age Power Metal. The result? His most hook-laden and epic collection of songs yet!

Carlsen shares: “I was unsure of what direction Transmission would take after A Brave Horizon, which was a blend of several different styles. The writing sessions for Clockwork Sky resulted in my most anthemic and hooky tunes yet. It blends the arena rock of the 80s with modern-age Power Metal, in a big way. And—as I evolve as a songwriter, instrumentalist and producer, I couldn’t help but add some new elements to the music.”

For Clockwork Sky, Carlsen assembled a powerhouse vocal lineup: Sebastian Palma (Blizzard Hunter), Atli Guðlaugsson (Power Paladin), Arnaud Ménard (Ecclesia), Mike Livas (Silent Winter) makes his debut on the soaring power ballad “One with the Storm”. All instruments and mixing were handled by Carlsen himself, while the album’s stunning artwork comes courtesy of returning designer Mina Lynum.

With singles like “Midnight Queen”, “Thunderbird”, and “One with the Storm” already making waves, Carlsen promises even more surprises on the full album: “It was hard to decide on the singles, because so many of the tracks have that potential. The only thing left to do now is unleash the entire thing on the world. I have never been this stoked about a release before!” From shred-fests to arena-sized choruses and cinematic soundscapes, Clockwork Sky is set to satisfy every Heavy Metal craving.
