After making his mark as Royal Hunt’s frontman from 1994 to 1998, DC Cooper didn’t rest on his laurels following his unexpected departure from the band. Instead, he channeled his creative energy into a successful solo album before joining forces with guitarist Alex Beyrodt to form Silent Force in 1999. The band’s debut album, The Empire of Future, showcased a harder, more aggressive sound compared to Cooper’s previous work. With Cooper’s powerful operatic vocals – honed through training with renowned opera coach Charlotte Coleman and inspired by Rob Halford’s advice – and Beyrodt’s skilled guitar work, Silent Force quickly established themselves as more than just another project in the melodic metal landscape. This interview, conducted during the release of their debut album, captures Silent Force at a pivotal moment, as they prepared to make their mark on the European metal scene with their unique blend of melodic power metal and Cooper’s distinctive vocal style.
