Awesome cover art and three respected, veteran vocalists of the metal scene can’t save this release from awkward songwriting and blundering arrangements. What could have been a Power Metal triumph is instead a painful and tedious demonstration of how not to execute a collaborative record. Featuring Ripper Owens, Sean Peck, and Harry Conklin on vocals and most of Peck’s CAGE outfit completing the rest of the band, The Three Tremors’ debut is hamstrung by meandering song structures and vocal arrangements that only serve to muddy the tracks even further. Rather than have each vocalist highlighted on different songs or different verses, instead the singers are often singing over the top of each other. This combined with some completely non-catchy vocal melodies and forced sounding lyric rhythms makes some of the vocal passages almost unlistenable.

There are glimmers of hope on The Three Tremors, for instance “When The Last Scream Fades” stands above the rest as an example of what this album could have been, but these moments of relative brilliance are too few and far between. The band sounds solid on this release, as expected given their established chemistry, but the strengths of this album simply can’t salvage the bad writing.

We’ll see how audiences react, but it shouldn’t come as a surprise if this is the first and last, The Three Tremors release.
