Alltheniko hits the ground running with “Man On The Edge”, the first song off their sixth release Italian History VI, primarily a Speed Metal album with a few twists and turns to keep listeners guessing. “Man On The Edge” is a good indicator of what follows, profiling as it does guitarist Joe Boneshaker’s solid riffs and excellent soloing ability, and also singer Dave Nightflight’s exuberant but occasionally strident vocals. Nightflight keeps the energy up, but his evident strain on the higher high notes won’t please everyone. Next track “Respect And Fight” comes across as more polished, with the vocal a bit more restrained and with a cool little bass figure to kick the Thrash-y tune off.

“Emblema” is next, which, like the title track, is sung in Italian, a language Dave is clearly more comfortable working in. “Waste Of Time”, a single which is supported by a video, is perhaps the catchiest tune on the album, fully-formed with a great chorus and driving beat. “Pain To Play” is a an old-school sounding Thrash romp featuring one of Boneshaker’s better solos. “Denier” is a hard-hitting, Priestian cut that features some of the best drumming from skinsman Luke the Idol, who is solid and workmanlike throughout Italian History VI. The album ends with the two minute and thirty-three second “Propaganda”, which begins with a crunch and growled vocal that preps the listener for a tight Thrash epic, but then less than a minute in rolls off into a heavy groove instrumental jam. 2017 has been a fine year for Italian Heavy Metal and Italian History VI adds to that encouraging trend of success.

Daniel was a reviewer here at Metal Express Radio. Iron Maiden’s Piece Of Mind wasn’t the first Metal album he owned, but it was the one that lifted the lid off his soul when he received the record as a gift on his 15th birthday. He's been a Metal fan ever since. He's probably best known as the author of various Young Adult novels such as the Generation Dead series and the ghost story Break My Heart 1,000 Times, now also a major motion picture entitled I Still See You, starring Bella Thorne. Writing and music, especially Heavy Metal music, has always been inextricably linked in his mind and career. His first paid gig doing any type of writing was for Cemetery Dance, where he wrote a horror-themed music column called Dead Beats, and when he was writing the first Generation Dead novel he had a ritual where he started his writing day with a Metal playlist that kicked off with “Crushing Belial” by Shadows Fall.
