From the home of some of Metal’s greatest bands, Germany’s Hammerschmitt brings fans their 4th studio album Still On Fire. Fittingly, fans of Accept, Primal Fear and other traditional German Metal acts will enjoy Hammerschmitt’s straight forward, no nonsense, by-the-numbers approach. With guitar riffs reminiscent of Wolf Hoffmann, catchy, harmony laden choruses and standard issue lyrics, Hammerschmitt may not be blazing a new trail into Metal freedom, but they are certainly giving existing fans what they want and alienating no one. It’s worth noting that this is their first album to be done completely with English language lyrics, which will no doubt help them appeal to a much wider swath of the Metal world.

Blast Still On Fire next time you’re out in the garage drinking beer and working on your Camaro. That college girl next door will still be too young for you, but at least you’ll be cooler than her Dad. Highlights include “Sanctuary”, “Metalheadz” and “Mean Streak”.
