WACKEN OPEN AIR 2010

It has been twenty one years. Every year it seems that there is no ending to one of the biggest Metal phenomenons in history. The Mecca of Metal, the Wacken Open Air festival, is coming HARDER, LOUDER, FASTER for yet another summer.

With the forthcoming live Metal shows, W.O.A added many new treats and activities for its loyal Metal swarm. Rather new resorts as Village, a larger version of Wacken Metal Battle for newcomer bands from various countries and other enjoyable venues.

As in every year, W.O.A rallied some of the major bands in the Metal industry while to trying to be as diverse as possible on the picking. Old and young Metal acts bound together to create a big Metal feast.

On the band's roster this year W.O.A presents the best. Here is a pack of examples:

Iron Maiden

Their second performance will be the first steps of their upcoming "Final Frontier" album. A night to forever remember.

The undying Hard Rock / Metal horrific performer comes out of his lair various of his longstanding hits.

After the 80's Glam attack comeback with "Saints Of Los Angeles", there is good show to expect.

Following their new album, "World Painted Red", its Thrash Metal with no mercy.

Coming back to their 80's Thrash roots on their new album, "Ironbound", there is no stopping the killing spree.

Longtime Death Metallers are out with a new Deathly / Folkish album,"As Yggdrasil Trembles". This band is one of the truest mixtures of old school Death Metal with roots of Folk.

Going on with their latest "Babylon" album, the razors of W.A.S.P will be spreading the seeds of Heavy / Glam Metal and Hard Rock.

The years only did well for the Finnish band. After releasing their "Skyforger" album, it seems that there is no end to their genuine nature.

After the brilliance of "Mabool" and their 2006 first presentation on W.O.A, the Israeli band is back with a new amazing album, "The Never-ending way Of ORwarrior" and another set on this year's W.O.A.

The German beast from the 80's will celebrate its 30th year anniversary with an amazing set of tunes. Aside from their celebration, it will be the last chance for their fans to experience the full track list of their hit album, "Tunes Of War".

The W.O.A show of Anvil will be probably one of their great events in their history. Anvil were critically acclaimed for their latest film: "The History Of Anvil". The movie will be on the W.O.A Movie Night.

After "Evisceration Plague" will be a massive boast off with this Brutal Death Metal band. These guys are twenty two years into the gory stuff, expect it to be brutal.

With a new album on the front, Max Cavallera comes to W.O.A as the prime South American groove veteran.

The local Heavy / Power Metal Germans are almost regulars on this fest. Maybe they will land in a helicopter, like they did in 2005.

The prime leader of the once glorious Emperor comes back to W.O.A on its own as a solos artist on his own project. After his recent album, "After", there will be no revival of Emperor, yet, on his own, Ihsahn is quite compelling.

Maybe the closest thing to Dio / Rainbow, the Swedish Heavy Metal artists bring out the best of the 80's. Parts of their new album will be on display.

The French invasion is evident on W.O.A. Following their latest album, "Insurrection", Nightmare will fly with their newfound aggression.

Raven (Gbr)

The only representative of NWOBHM, Raven proved that this kind of Heavy Metal still kicks ass even thirty and some years after its birth.

The new "Aealo" album brought Greek Rotting Christ into a new level of existence. The upcoming show on W.O.A will certainly be another great milestone to their career.

The American industrial machines are back and rejoined with new members and guitarist Dino Cazares. Followed by their new album, "Mechanize", there is a hope for a good show.

The old ex-Accept Meta guru is coming to Wacken to present his latest album and rejoice with old Accept classics. Pure German Heavy Metal at it's best.

Those mentioned names are only examples; there are other amazing Metal acts which will destroy the stages. Check them out on the billing area on the Wacken website:
