Eagle Rock Entertainment/Armoury Records

It’s taken 28 years, but one of Twisted Sister’s classic albums, You Can’t Stop Rock ‘N’ Roll, finally sees a reissue in remastered form through Eagle Rock Entertainment’s Armoury Records label!

Call it taking advantage of popularity garnered due to reintroducing themselves to the world via last October’s Live in Wacken – The Reunion DVD/CD release, or perhaps chalk it up to catering to the latest music fad, which includes a renewed public interest in Classic 80’s Hard Rock and Hair Metal releases. Whatever the reason, this is news that should be embraced by all 80’s/Hair Metal fans with open arms!

1983’s You Can’t Stop Rock ‘N’ Roll did see a re-issue by Spitfire in 1999, but other than three bonus tracks, it still had the original’s audio quality, or lack thereof. Thankfully, this latest reissue adds some definite “punch” and clarity to this classic release that wasn’t present on the original masters.

Classic tracks like “I Am (I’m Me)”, “The Kids Are Back”, “Like A Knife In The Back”, and of course the title track, all reverberate with a brighter sound. On the downside, the track listing on this remastered disc stays true to the 1999 Spitfire release, meaning there are no additional “unreleased” tracks to make a diehard fan’s decision easier about buying this album again, other than some added bottom end and clarity. When played side by side with the Sptifire re-issue, there did seem to be a noticeable difference, which in and of itself might be enough reason for the diehard fan to buy.

Also worth mentioning … this month also sees a re-issue of the band’s Club Daze, Vol. 1 release (watch for our forthcoming review), as well as re-issues of Come Out And Play and Love Is For Suckers hitting the market later this year!

If you only own the original 1983 version of this release on CD, then this is a definite justified “must buy” for the remastered sound, as well as the three bonus tracks! If you own the Spitfire re-issue, then your decision is a bit tougher, but you can’t go wrong by choosing this upgrade!

I think the original vinyl sounds powerful, and the best production TS ever had. But I havent heard this re-issue to compare. Great album!
