Seven Steps To The Green Door is a German Progressive Rock band. They released their second album Step Into My World at the end of 2008. The seven-piece band has with this record put them selves among the greatest Progressive acts that Progrock Records has to offer. The music flows from straight Heavy Metal to Polyrhythmic and Jazz-like phases and it never really stops to amaze the listener.

The opening tune entitled “New Rise” sets the standard. It is in true Progressive Rock style; developing all the time. It can actually remind a little of the band Yes. The complexity of the song is outstanding, the band always manages to maintain interest. They focus a lot on melodies and vocal harmonies. This can be heard very easily on the following song “Stay Beside”. The song features both male and female vocals and they always make great harmonies together. The song itself is a bit straightforward, but sounds incredibly good.

Further out in the album it gets a little heavier. The title track has a much darker approach. This is also where they begin to experiment with effects on the vocals. It sounds like they’ve added distortion to the vocal tracks.

The fifth song is a Fusion song entitled “My Love Mr. Singing Club”. It’s an instrumental with saxophone in the lead playing a lot of Jazzy phrases and melodies. Towards the end of the song, it gets crazy when three or even four saxophones playing solo over each other; it sounds really cool. It is definitely one of the most interesting songs from this record.

In all the songs mentioned, you’ll hear the diversity. There are also a lot of musical pearls further out in the album as well that follow along the same path. Step In 2 My World is an album that makes you hungry for more all the way through. The never-ending blend of wonderful melodies, Polyrhythmic and Metal becomes the very engine of this album, and with the Jazzy undertone and crystal clear production, it really reaches the top. If this album hasn’t reached your ears ye,t you must definitely check it out! It is absolutely among the greatest releases of last 2008.
